Eagles Nest.
The Kehlsteinhaus is a mountain inn above Berchtesgaden that was built between 1937 and 1938 by the NSDAP as a representative building. It stands just below the summit of the Kehlstein at an altitude of 1834 meters on a mountain spur. A tunnel lined with natural stone leads 124 meters through the rock massif to a brass-clad elevator. In just 41 seconds, the elevator travels another 124 meters into the interior of the Eagle's Nest.
